March 23, 1942 - August 7, 2020
Sandra Louise Liedle March 23, 1942-August 7, 2020 Sandra “Sandy” Louise (Meade) Liedle, passed peacefully into her Lord and Savior’s arms withher daughter and daughter-in-law by her side at St. Peter’s Hospital on August 7, 2020. She spent the last 4 years battling health issues, while maintaining a stubborn but positive attitude. Sandy was a dedicated mother to 7 children and was absolutely overjoyed when the grandbabiescame along. She had 30 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren. Sandy was also a much-loved daughter, sister, aunt, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, and friend. Born March 23, 1942, in Newhall, California, She was adopted by Everdean and Edward Meade, whom she called Mom and Daddy for a lifetime. Sandy moved to Helena, Montana, with her mom, daddy, sister Bonnie, and bulldog Archie in 1957. One year later they moved to the family home on Custer Avenue: 5 acres in the Helena Valley, complete with a donkey she rode and geese that wouldattack her. It surely must have been a happy childhood. Sandy attended Helena High School with the graduating Class of 1960. On September 3, 1960 Sandy married Lester Leslie Liedle, in Helena, Montana, and became a stay-at-home mother for the “Liedle Tribe” and nephew Burke as they all grew. She was always there to teach, entertain, make us laugh, fix the wounds, prepare meals, discipline (who remembers the hot wheel tracks?) and, most importantly, to show unconditional love for each. Never did she show a favorite, though it would be argued by each that they were. Artistic in nature, Sandy always enjoyed crafting. Whether it was macramé plant hangers, painting bird houses, or decoupage art,she was gifted at what she created. When her husband Les became ill with cancer, she opened a craft shop, Patchwork Boutique, next to their recording studio so she could be near to care for him. She enjoyed her time as a small business owner and even more being close to her husband in his final years. After her husband’s passing in 1984, she started work at the St. Helena Cathedral Parish Office as a receptionist, and remained there until her retirement in 2014. In these later years, she took up scrapbooking and created keepsake memory books for some of her children and grandchildren to treasure forever. Christmas was always her favorite holiday. She loved giving and always wrapped gifts with such love and care that you didn't want to open them. Christmas bows, trinkets and wrapping from her gifts are treasured and stored in her childrens Christmas decorations. She is survived by sons, Glenn (Joyce) Wittenberg, Mike (Charlotte) Liedle, Dan (Debbie) Liedle, Pat (Suzanne) Liedle, Rob (Pam) Liedle, Jim (Joey) Liedle, daughter Vickie (Don) Cox, nephew Burke McCullough, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great nieces and nephews, and several close childhood friends. Sandy is preceded in death by her husband Lester Liedle, mother Everdean Bruins Meade, father Edward Meade, sister Bonnie Meade Steitle, and 1 great grandchild. A private graveside burial will take place in September with her children attending. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be planned for the Spring of 2021.
