July 18, 1933 - January 26, 2020
Patsy Lou Long went home to heaven on January 26, 2020 after a valiant six-year battle with cancer. Patsy was born July 18, 1933 in St Anthony, Idaho to Clarence and Monta Miller. Patsy was the oldest of six children. When she was 14 years old the family moved to Townsend, Montana where her father was a farmer. Patsy graduated from Townsend High School and married Walter Long on February 28, 1953. They had three children; Jack (Lynn) Long, LeeAnn (Steve) Hurford, and Roby ( Jessie) Long. Patsy was a hard worker. While raising her children she provided childcare, took in ironing and mending and helped support her family in any way that she could. When her children went to school, Patsy spent years as a bakery clerk working at the Goodie Shop and Albertsons bakery. She also worked in the lunch room of Eastgate elementary and as a retail clerk for Town Pump. She volunteered for years at Good Samaritan. She worked and volunteered well into her seventies. She loved to travel with her daughter LeeAnn, embroidery, cross stitch and many other crafts. She was an accomplished seamstress, sewing costumes for Blanch Judge studios, dresses and fringed western shirts for her children. We all have been gifted with Christmas stockings, pillowcases, tea towels, ornaments and many other items we will treasure forever. Patsy was preceded in death by her husband Walter, her parents and her siblings; Bonnie, Elgia, and Lavirl. She is survived by her children and their spouses. Patsy leaves a legacy of six grandchildren; Bill and Chris Hurford, Jeff Long, Kelly Jo Osler, Roby Jr. and Bryan Long and eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Richard (Sharon) Miller of Townsend, Carol Newell of Great Falls, and Bob Miller of Missoula and numerous nieces and nephews. Patsy will be buried at a family plot on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 1 p.m. in Sunset Gardens. The family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Weiner and his staff and Compassus Hospice for their loving care of our mother.
